What to do?
One thing:
honor and celebrate
those who act,
like Umar Mulinde.

For many of us, things have been turned upside down. We grew up hearing about the wrongs of European colonization and of Christian missionary zeal. We grew up learning that we must not force a religion upon people, or a culture upon people.

We grew up without something we need urgently at present: the deep-rooted belief that we have the right to protect ourselves, our beliefs, our cultures, our rights and freedoms.

Most of us also grew up without being exposed to a celebration of Western culture. We learned - rightly - of its shortcomings, its flaws, its weaknesses.

But what about all that is valuable?

It's like focusing only on what is wrong with your parents.

And then, how do we protect ourselves, and also our values? What strategies work best? Most people in the West have not learned to even think about this. We're just supposed to care about any way we - the West - may harm others.

And now - for those of us with eyes willing to see - we're faced with an ideological force, a religious force, armed and ready to strike.

Christian persecution. Jewish persecution. Hindu, Buddhist, pagan, atheist, agnostic persecution.

Out with freedom of speech - just a generation after the struggle against censorship. Widespread persecution in the West of those who say what is increasingly being prohibited.

It's hard enough, at least for me, to believe this is happening.

Even harder is that I have the sense of living in a "Stepford Wives" universe. The Stepford wives (from the novel by Ira Levin) look quite normal, but women new to Stepford soon sense that something is missing - their selves. They're automatons, programmed to please their husbands. Women new to Stepford had better look out.

Anyway, this is the universe we find ourselves in. We're pushed, by the media and most of the groups in power in the West, to care that there are no hurt feeling among those with an ideology which is against the freedoms so many in the West were brought up to value.

But now we're supposed to value, even more than our freedoms, the feelings of people whose feelings may be hurt if we pay attention to the truth about their ideology, Islam, and if we spread word about this truth.

Umar Mulinde is one of those who has had more than his feelings hurt. An ex-Muslim who became a Christian pastor, he has been acid burned.

Unfortunately his story isn't exceptional.

Hundreds of thousands - millions - of non-Muslims are persecuted for not being Muslim. Girls and women are captured, raped, forced to convert to Islam. I don't know where to continue.

Maybe with the Islamic jihadic terrorist acts - often murder suicides - increasingly common throughout the world.

I'm living in a mad world, where people with an ideology against Western freedoms are allowed into the West in huge numbers, as immigrants and refugees. The incompatibility of their ideology isn't faced. The danger to non-Muslims isn't faced. Islamics aren't required to find homes within Islamic countries.

As we are told over and over, there are about 1.5 billion Islamics in the world. Surely it makes no sense to have people with this ideology come into areas of the world with an incompatible ideology.

According to the Pew Research Center in 2015, there were 50 Muslim-majority countries. If there is nowhere within these 50 countries that will provide a refuge to Islamics displaced by Islamic conflicts, that is not a reason to let them into countries with an incompatible ideology. Instead, it's a further reason to make sure these people don't come to non-Islamic countries. It doesn't make logical sense to take in people with an ideology which has only countries which will not even take in fellow-religionists.

Instead, it sure sounds like a way of asking for major trouble.

There's something else. Right now there are so many people persecuted by Islamists. These people need refuge. Most do not have an ideology with Western freedoms.

I don't know when the West will wake up.

As they say, what I'm not saying isn't rocket science. It's plain ordinary common sense.

I will leave it at that. Christian persecution - as well as Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, etc persecution - by Islam is something that needs to be faced and acted upon.

Non-Islamic people persecuted by Islamics need safety.

The people in the West need safety from Islamic ideology, from people who believe in - just for starters - the takeover of every society, by any means, by an Islamic caliphate.

One thing that is needed: a huge increase in awareness of what we are facing. People like Umar Mulinde can help with that.

Another thing we need: heroes, people who have shows courage. Umar Mulinde is one of those.
